Troy, what is the weather going to be like June in Mesa? I can’t imagine wearing pants in Arizona this time of year! What would it hurt if we wore appropriate length shorts? I definitely don’t understand this policy!

Larry I will talk it over with the rest of the board and get their opinion. If there are any other players that think we should be wearing shorts in hot weather now is the time to comment. If you think we should not be wearing shorts post you comments and the board will review them and take our recomendation to the tour. It will be triple digits here in June!!!

I’m sure all of us would be more comfortable in shorts. However, we have a goal to be the feeder tour for the Champions Tour, much like the Nationwide Tour is for the PGA Tour. As far as I know (not 100% sure about the Nationwide), none of these tours allow shorts during tour events. Although it will be triple digits in Phoenix in July, it will be dry and will not feel nearly as hot as the US Senior Open or other summer events on the Champions Tour most years. There’s no question that pants look more professional; also no question that shorts are more comfortable. It’s just a question of the image we want for our tour. I would vote for pants. Thanks, Keith

Guys:

As the tour prepares to host an Arizona series in June, I would like to encourage all (especially those in the western region) to spread the word in order to build our support base. As you all know, not too many bonafide and reputable tour opportunities present themselves and our chance to preserve it’s future depends on our support and participation.

WE NEED MORE PLAYERS!

If the AZ Sr. Open can host a field of 140 with a nominal purse @ 30K then obviously this region can produce the player numbers to sustain an ongoing tour.

UGGOA has provided the opportunity. It is up to us to make it work. Come on out and play…and bring a friend. Jim

i sponsor 3 players on this tour and 2 of them play on champions tour….pant should not be an issue ….all players required to wear them just like the big tours…r dont play…this is professional golf guys….not a member guest scramble at our local club

Many of us have played on so called professional “mini” tours in the past. I can say without hesitation the people involved with this organization have made a great effort in creating a truely professional golf tour. As far as a the “pants” issue goes…I think we should continue to strive to become an example for “mini tour” professional golf…Needless to say past tours have failed miserably to accomplish credability and I for one believe we have an opportunity and an obligation to set a standard above that of previous tours. I would like to give the UGGOA staff and the initial sponsor a hearty thank you for all of their efforts in endeavoring to create this tour. Without their hard work and dedication to the goal of creating a true “players tour” our options looked dismal.
To all Veterans on this Memorial Day both past and present…Thank you for your tremendous sacrifice to our great nation…May God bless. See you in Arizona!

I agree with the tour policy requiring the wear of long pants during tour events. It definitely presents a much more profesional appearance. Further, my dermatologist tells me that most studies show covering your skin with light colored cloting when in bright sun actually keeps you cooler.

I hate pants as much as any of you during the summer, but!!!!!!!!!!I do agree with the pants during the tournament week. Everyone involved with the tour has done their best to make this Tour as professional as possible. Now we as players have to suck it up and wear the pants. You can always buy Linen Pants, Or if you really want. Get hold of Troy and he’ll ask Denise if she’ll buy them…Hell she buys all his clothes anyway. He’d never be able to dress so well if it were not for her. See all of you in Az next week

No doubt it will be hot. I too agree with the tour policy about wearing pants and maintaining a professional image. I play another mini tour and most of the guys wear shorts in the summer – it doesn’t look that great. The fact is that when it’s hot – it’s hot whether you’re wearing shorts or pants.

All of a sudden knowing the fabric content of your pants is a little more important. Just stay hydrated and find the shade.
